University of Huddersfield
The University of Huddersfield was established in 1825 as the Huddersfield Scientific and Mechanic Institute.

With a strategic plan in place which outlines aims and objectives up to 2013, the University is committed to growth in student numbers, and to achieve a greater range of research excellence.

University of Huddersfield Business School
Inspiring tomorrow’s professionals
In recent years there has been considerable growth in both the University and in the popularity of business at Huddersfield. Our School structure is based around our major subject areas of accountancy, strategy and marketing, leadership and management and legal studies through our Law School. We are large enough to support the full range of business and legal provision but also remain close to our learners and generate the friendly and accessible learning environment which so many of our students appreciate. The Business School performs consistently well in the annual National Student Survey in which students are asked to rate their university experience, praising our assessment, feedback, learning resources and the overall student experience.
As part of a teaching led university we are interested in ensuring that we facilitate student learning using a variety of innovative and creative teaching techniques. We aim to provide a first class student experience whether it is on our Queensgate campus, through our provision at the University Campus sites in Oldham and Barnsley, further afield for example in Greece, Hong Kong, or Jordan or to those studying by distance learning.
Our links with professional bodies and the wider business community are forged through regular events on campus with guest speakers from professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and experts from government and industry. We also provided teaching and training for major employers such as First Direct, West Yorkshire Fire Service and Royal Mail Group amongst many others.
Our Business School Advisory Board contains experienced and influential figures from the commercial business world, the public and voluntary sectors and the professions.
The business environment is constantly changing and “business” covers a wide spectrum of activity locally, regionally and globally. Our staff keep up to date by engaging in a range of activities in the commercial world as well as through their research and scholarly activity.
